Graphics Hardware / SIGGRAPH 2007, San Diego
Last Friday I arrived in San Diego to attend two conference: The Graphics Hardware 2007 which started yesterday and has its second and final day today, and then of course SIGGRAPH 2007 starting tomorrow (where I’ll be presenting a poster!).
The Graphics Hardware conference is really a small but high quality event.. not too many publications, only a single track (no parallel sessions) such that you’re guaranteed to see all the talks, and the attendees are really top notch. If you’re keen on collecting signatures from famous personalities of computer graphics, this would be the place to go - probably even more so than SIGGRAPH, where the top guys vanish a bit in the mass of participants (about 25.000!)…
Last night we also had the social event of Graphics Hardware, a dinner cruise in the San Diego Bay. Generally a great opportunity to do some ‘networking’ and talk to other participants, but we were so jetlagged or otherwise beat up (I think that some of the airplane food was spoilt) that we mostly hung around lethargically…
