*UARGH!*

Hab gerade einen Anruf vom Sportgeschäft meines Vertrauens bekommen. Mein Mountainbike ist jetzt endlich bei Trek angekommen und im Wesentlichen ein Totalschaden: Der Hauptrahmen muss ausgetauscht werden (Hauptlagerschale ist komplett ausgeschlagen) und kommt neu aus den USA - Kostenpunkt im Summe etwa 320 Euro. Was schon mal etwas steil ist, weil das Rad ja noch garnicht so alt ist, denke ich mir.

Falsch gedacht.

Ich hab’ das Rad nämlich schon seit 2002 - verdammt, wie die Zeit vergeht. Zuerst konnte ich das garnicht glauben und hab’ dann kurz in meinem digicam-Archiv geblättert. Tatsächlich: da gibt es Bilder von 2002, auf denen ich eindeutig schon auf einem Fuel 98 unterwegs bin!

Ist aber auch egal, weil die Alternative ein (komplett) neues Bike wäre - und das Geld habe ich auf gar keinen Fall. Was mehr weh tut: der neue Rahmen kommt aus den USA, mit entsprechender Wartezeit.

Ich muss also noch mindestens 4 Wochen ohne Bike auskommen….
Just received a call from my favourite bike shop about my bike. It finally arrived at the Trek HQ, and it is basically a wreck. With the main bearing is busted, the only solution is a new main frame. Which costs about EUR 320 in total - quite a chunk of money, but still less than the alternative (a new bike).

I was sort of surprised that the bike was too old for a warranty replacement, but a quick check of my digital camera archives confirmed that I’ve been riding this bike since 2002. Time flies…

Anyway, what is really getting to me is that I’ll have to wait another four weeks because the new frame needs to be shipped from the US.

Oh well, I suppose until then there’s always ski tours and of course my PhD thesis…
